The school counseling program supports all students in three main areas: Personal and Social, Academic, and Career. Students in grades K-6 have guidance class once per 6-day cycle. I also visit 4K classes each month. Guidance lessons may utilize Social Emotional Learning curricula and other research-based activities, as well as diocesan character education materials. Lessons target the skills and mindsets that build success and the needs of each class, in accordance with the American School Counseling Association National Model. Lessons are taught in a variety of ways, depending on the age and needs of students. Some classes will read stories, do art activities, and play games. Others may involve discussions, role plays, and multimedia projects. Guidance time is a fun way to learn meaningful lessons for life.
