In 1990, I decided that the corporate world was not the direction that God was calling me. My heart was to with work children in an Early Childhood Christian setting. I pursued my education and started working in my first Christian child care center in 1994. In 1998, I started working at St. Thomas More Childcare Center (which later became Mary Mother of the Church Early Childhood Center) eventually becoming the director. In August of 2012 after the decision was made to close the Early Childhood Center due to structural issues, I took a position at Cathedral School as the 4K Extended Care Teacher and at that time until the summer of 2020 I was the co-director of the newly formed Camp Cathedral Summer Camp.  Some of my favorite parts of being here is that I get to share God's love everyday with the children, help them know that they are a beautiful child of God and that God loves them very much.  In addition, I have been married to my husband Emil for 35 years, he is retired from the La Crosse Fire Department. We have one son Max who is a firefighter/paramedic with the Wisconsin Rapids Fire Department, a daughter-in-law Haley, who teaches at the Wisconsin Rapids Catholic School system. We also have a "white" yellow labrador, and a grand dog.  I love Jesus, my personal Savior, and love sharing about his saving grace. My interests and hobbies include listening to Christian Worship, reading, hiking, photography, and crafting.

My life verse: I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Philippians 4:13

MY CLASSROOM

In 4K Extended Care one of my main goals is the Social/Emotional aspect of learning. This is a core part of the children’s learning process (how to follow directions, how to get along with others, how to problem solve, what is acceptable and unacceptable behavior, how to deal with feelings, and to show respect). I believe in play-based learning so the classroom is set up into several learning centers where the children can play with others or choose to play independently. Each week I introduce a theme for our extended learning. Along with the theme an art project is created to go with it. I keep these projects and put them into a "book" that is sent home at the end of the year to share with the parents.

I also work with the 4K teacher/s and add to my lesson plans the area of developmental learning they are currently working on.
