Definition: IMPACT is Aquinas High School's Christ-centered, student-led community service organization.
Beginnings: Six Aquinas students conceived IMPACT in 1994. Empowered by their own desire to make a difference in the world, they wanted to tap into the potential of their fellow students at Aquinas to help other people throughout the community. Their motto that inspired and guided them are Christ's words in the Gospel of John (15:5): "I am the vine, you are the branches."
Mission: IMPACT encourages students to donate their time, talent, and energy for charitable events and to church and community agencies and organizations within La Crosse. IMPACT informs students of volunteer opportunities and takes the initiative in promoting volunteerism as an integral part of a person's life. Students encouraging other students by their own actions is central to IMPACT's vision.
Structure: IMPACT is open to all interested students. It is organized and led by the students who make up the all-volunteer group. Students focus on activities and organizations to which they believe they can make an effective contribution of people and time.
As of 2009, IMPACT consisted of 117 student members! An IMPACT spin-off is daily meal delivery throughout the entire year for the La Crosse County Elderly Nutrition Program.
